Cataract Surgery

CATARACT SURGERY

It is the surgery performed to treat the cataract caused by the deterioration of the natural eye lens that provides vision. It is performed under drop anesthesia. In this surgery, the deteriorated eye lens is removed and a new transparent lens is inserted to provide vision. It is an operation that takes about 20-30 minutes. It is done in operating room conditions. In cataract surgeries, stitched surgeries were performed in the past, but nowadays, surgery is performed with procedures called laser or phacoemulsification. After the operation, there are no stitches in the eye. Does not require hospitalization. Usually discharged immediately after surgery. The drops to be used should be started immediately after the operation. Drops are continued for about 20-30 days. It is inconvenient to lose eye water within 1 week after the operation. Do not do heavy work and should be in clean places. It is inconvenient to enter the sea and pool for about 1 month.
The most important thing here is the lens to be placed in the eye during the surgery. Intraocular lenses are divided into four parts, 1-Monoblock, that is, single focus lenses; Since they contain a single focus, these lenses are worn with the aim of distant vision, they do not provide any benefit for near vision.2- Bifocal lenses; These lenses are aimed at far and near vision. 3- Trifocal lenses (SMART LENS); From these lenses, in addition to bifocal lenses, a better vision is also provided in objects at medium distance, that is, at computer distance, where far and near vision is better. 4-toric lenses; These lenses are applied to individuals with astigmatism.
